62 yr. old memories when the USCG was looking for volunteers to go into a place, Adm. Byrd was painting a bad picture of, even so far as telling our wives, some would be widows before the CGC Eastwind returned, thanks a lot Richard, he was heavy on the dramatics .

Winter over 65/66. Was CM 3 at the time. Spent summer at Willy Field with crash crew and wintered in town at the fire house. Had some good times .

I was aboard the USS Atka AGB-3 @ McMurdo in 1966 Vivid memories of the experience and of visiting north island and christchurch on south Island. Also had duty on USS Edisto AGB -2. You guys are doing a great job Keep up the good work.The ice is another world.

CRREL plus USARP summers 62-63 and 63-64 at McMurdo, Pole and Byrd Stations.In January 2005 I returned to Antarctica lecturing and guiding. Primarily I am on the Hurtigrten "FRAM" and in 2018, from Ushuaia to the Peninsula then north to Miami.
