My name is Eugene Herrman, and I served as a cook with the 69-70 winter over crew, as Mc Murdo, still have some great souvenirs from the Antarctic, would like to hear from other crew members from 69-70. It will be 50 years shortly since my time there, but reminisce about it all the time.

Guess I will check in because I am still alive. My place in all this W/O 68-69/ RM3/MSG CNTR. I am now 70 years old and can say with confidence, my time on the ICE is my greatest experience. I call it my National Geographic moment. God Blass All OAE's. Remember, when on the ice, we are not here for a long time but here for a good time. I had that good time.

I started out in the firehouse at McMurdo, summer 70; made AG3 and off to McGregor camp for Nov 70; back to Det "C" at McMurdo for Christmas and New Year's, and finally a trip to Hallett on the Burton Island where I would be the next two seasons till we closed the station on 19 Feb 1973. Any Hallett or Det "C" guys out there?

My first trip was with VX-6 Deep freeze 1 various duty. Went down with VX-6 Deep Freeze 11 and was 1 of 4 on the crash crew. I have an extra Deep Freeze 11 year book if anyone is interested.
