Just discovered OAEA. I sailed on USCGC Glacier DF 85/86. I was the last Chief Radioman aboard before she was decommissioned. There aren't many Coast Guard people signed up. Like your site, lots of history.

I have been a member for many years. Somehow, I was dropped from receiving any OAEA information since we became ill and my wife came down with Cancer. Not sure of the coincidence but, sometime in 2018/19. I was in VX-6/VXE-6 March 1965 until July 1970. We were unable to make the 2018 San Antonio and 2019 New Orleans Reunions. I may have lost contact with the OAEA and VX/VXE-6 groups prior to the 2018 Reunion as I have no emails form either group prior to that reunion.

Hey, Gabby, is there an active link to McMurdo, either to view or two way, thru the computer of course. Just curious. Hope everyone is hunkered down for this virus, ya know you still have to go and get supplies though. An idea,,use rubber gloves to open boxes from Amazon, or anywhere else for that matter. Then throw them out, don't turn them inside out to use them again, think about it.

After a 35 year military and civilian career as a physician, I was recruited by UTMB Health - Center for Polar Medical Operations to be a physician with the U.S. Antarctic Program. I was the 2015 Winter-Over doc for South Pole and the 2018 Winter-Over doc for Palmer Station. I just spent 5 weeks helping out at McMurdo Station General Hospital and will be heading back to Palmer Station as the 2020 Winter-Over physician. I love being a part of this program!

I recently discovered 3 11X17 "certificates" of authenticity that I purchased while stationed on the ice with NSFA from 87-90. One os for McMurdo, one for Byrd and one for South Pole. I never got them authnticated while I was there, is there any way to get those authenticated now 30 years later? Thanks in advance. Kurt

My Dad, Lee Goewey, was a pilot for VX-6 in the early 60s and I have been going through many of his 35mm slides from those deployments. Flew 19 20 and 21. Would love to supply some of these to the site as well as a Christmas card from that time frame that I think your members would appreciate. Let me know how to connect with you. Best Regards Dan Goewey
