MEMORIAL MEMBERS: Memorial Members are men or women who were killed or died in Antarctica during the military Operation Highjump, and Operation Deep Freeze; and other military and United States Antarctic Program civilian personnel who are killed or died in Antarctica while part of the National Science Foundation Polar Program support program. These are automatically inducted into the OAEA. Other Antarctic deaths not associated as mentioned above may be inducted into the OAEA on a case-by-case basis by the OAEA Board of Directors.
